Here are a few more in depth photos of the Riley RMF restoration

This was the car as delivered , both the boot floor and the bulkhead had been ' restored ' and were ready to fit . Within a few minutes I noticed the boot floor had been fitted incorrectly causing the whole rear end to be out of alignment , and the bulkhead had a patch welded in and covered with 1 inch of filler ! Let the job begin !!
The perforated steel roof had rotted away around the edges , the complete roof is made of sixteen sections soldered together - not blobbed together like this bit !
It is so important to have as much of the original bodywork available , no matter how bad it may be . Luckily these parts were not thrown away !
It is always a nice feeling to start building the body. The red wood was bought as a kit from the club spares dept. The natural wood is ash , cut and shaped in the workshop.
The front end is taking shape , it is vital on a four door car to try all of the doors on as much as possible as 1/2" difference at the front will go all the way through the doors to the back !!
Another trial fitting of the doors - all looking good !
Most of the ash frame is now fitted , this can be very time consuming as it must fit under and around the metalwork exactly !
Both rear door shut panels were replaced as the original captive nuts for the wings were very weak . This photo also shows where the boot floor was ' adjusted ' .
All of the panels needed repairs . This is the right hand front wing showing a welded repair on the lower edge.It is important to try the wing on the car whilst fitting new sections .
The bulkhead has now been repaired and painted , the wood has been treated and the body can finally go back together for good !
A new boot lid skin was made , with help from the wheeling machine . The boot lid frame had a new bottom edge fabricated and welded in place .
Not a bad fit ?
All door gaps are lead loaded as original . Note the properly repaired roof on this photo !
Most of the body is now painted , the doors are painted on the inside and in the shuts , and the outsides are painted on the car to avoid damage when fitting !
Painting finished , it's time for the roof !
Looking rather nice at the end of a long job !
